In this spoof of, and homage to, the Beatles and Beatlemania, Barry Womble (John Halsey), Dirk McQuickly (Eric Idle), Ron Nasty (Neil Innes), and Stig O’Hara (Rikki Fataar) are a band called The Rutles. They start out playing songs in a humble part of England and then eventually become worldwide sensations thanks to their manager Leggy Mountbatten (Terence Bayler). They parody many Beatles songs, with titles like “Ouch!”, “A Hard Day’s Rut,” “Cheese and Onions,” “Sgt. Rutter’s Only Darts Club Band,” amongst others. The band performs in Che Stadium and they have to deal with litigation, marriages and associated problems, and eventually the band’s break-up.
