Carnal Knowledge is a movie which traces the lives and sexual and relationship choices of two men. Sandy (Art Garfunkel) is more of a dreamy idealist, while his friend Jonathan (Jack Nicholson) seems to be a more practical sort of fellow. Over the course of their lives from college to middle age, these two men make very different choices. Sandy chooses a conventional marriage with Susan (Candice Bergen), while Jonathan chooses to be a perpetual bachelor (and cad) with a large number of women who rotate in and out of his life. One of the most important women for Jonathan is the gorgeous Bobbie (Ann-Margret), with whom he has a tempestuous relationship. The two friends often get together over the years to discuss their views on women and happiness.
