Re-Animator is the classic modernization of H.P. Lovecraft’s horrific story. While in Austria, Doctor Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs) discovers a liquid that can regenerate decayed, dead tissue and bring it back to life. When his assistant, a well known Swiss scientist dies, West moves over seas from the Zurich University Institute of Medicine to Miskatonic University in America where he continues his experiments. Over time his experiments advance and West brings in the aid of fellow student Dan Cain (Bruce Abbott) and his fiancée Megan Halsey (Barbara Crampton) who help him in his research. The three have become so fascinated with the results so far they decide to sneak into the hospital morgue and begin experiments on full deceased bodies. When West’s contemporary and adversary, Dr. Carl Hill (David Gale) finds out what the three have done, Doctor Hill lobotomizes Halsey and tries to stop West. West kills Doctor Hill by decapitation and then re-animates both his head and body. But when the re-animated body escapes and begins to kill people it’s up to West and Cain to stop him.
