Lisbet Salander (Noomi Rapace) was shot in the head and is recovering in a hospital. One of the bad guys, Alexander Zalachenko (Georgi Staykov) is also admitted to the same hospital. He turns out to be a former Soviet spy. He also happens to be Lisbet’s father. When Lisbet is healthy enough she is put in a cell awaiting trial, accused of 3 cases of homicide. In this move the journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) finally falls in love with Lisbet. He arranges for his sister to defend Lisbet in court. Mikael tries to investigate Lisbet’s past to uncover the truth. His fellow journalists at the Millennium Magazine gets threatened, but continues to investigate a secret group inside the Swedish secret police, S.Ä.P.O., who have been protecting Lisbet’s father for years and have been doing very bad things to her.
