In ancient Japan, a mighty group of samurai would serve under a particular Shogun. In this particular story and situation the Shogun has become extremely paranoid and suspicious over his band of assassins. He has his ninja spies constantly watch his warriors, and finally when he suspicions have reached a breaking point he has them killed. All but one, Ogami Itto (Tomisaburo Wakayama) are murdered, and Itto’s wife is instead killed. Itto seeking revenge takes his young son with him as he works as a mercenary until his opportunity for revenge presents itself. When it does, Itto must defeat a force more powerful than he can ever imagine if he is to get his shot at the Shogun.
