Tyler (Charles Martin Smith) engages in many adventures in the wilderness as he studies wolves. Rosie (Brian Dennehy) is a bush pilot who is a redneck. Mike (Samason Jorah) is an Inuit, and Ootek (Zachary Ittimangnag) is a man with wisdom who helps Tyler when he is in great need. The wilderness is shown to be very dangerous, due to the climate, wild animals, and poor judgment on the part of some people. These people learn or show that death is natural, Inuits are losing land, wolves are seeing their habitat disappear, and the younger Inuit are being lured away from their ancestral home and traditions.
